SuperSonics host Northwest Division-rival Portland

Basketball Betting Lines

02/26/2007 - (Sportsbook Betting Lines) - Northwest Division rivals battle when the Portland Trail Blazers visit the Seattle SuperSonics tonight at KeyArena.

This is the second of four meetings between the squads this campaign. On November 1st, Zach Randolph scored 30 points and pulled down 10 rebounds as the Trail Blazers rallied for a 110-106 victory over Seattle at KeyArena.

The Trail Blazers have won two of their last three at Seattle. The teams have split the last four contests in the series.

Portland is scheduled to host the SuperSonics on March 18th and April 14th at the Rose Garden.

The Trail Blazers try to get back on the winning track this evening. On Friday, Pau Gasol scored 23 points to lift the Memphis Grizzlies over Portland, 103-102, at the Rose Garden.

Randolph posted 25 points and seven rebounds in the loss to Memphis for the Trail Blazers, who had a two-game winning streak halted. Rookie Brandon Roy scored 19 points, while Jarrett Jack netted 18 and Jamaal Magloire contributed 14 points and 10 rebounds.

Portland is 11-18 on the road this season. After tonight's game, the Trail Blazers return home for a four-game homestand. They will host Charlotte, Sacramento, San Antonio and Golden State on the upcoming stand.

Seattle hopes to put the brakes on a two-game losing streak. On Saturday, Tony Parker scored 21 points as the Spurs crushed the SuperSonics, 102-71, at the AT&T Center.

All-Star Ray Allen had 12 points but shot a miserable 4-of-20 from the floor in the loss to San Antonio for the Sonics, who dropped their second straight after a three-game winning streak. Rashard Lewis and Damien Wilkins both netted 10 in the game.

The SuperSonics are 15-13 at home this season. They are scheduled to visit the Los Angeles Clippers on Wednesday.

2007 NFL Football Betting Preview

“You play to win the game!”

Those are the words of notoriously intense head coach Herman Edwards. Unfortunately, from a bettors’ perspective, most coaches don’t feel that way about the NFL preseason. August is a time to evaluate young players, finalize the depth chart and pray your star players stay healthy.

The trick to making money during the exhibition schedule is identifying coaches – like Edwards – who can’t stand losing even when there's nothing on the line.

The New York Jets betting won 15 of 21 preseason games and went 14-7 against the spread (ATS) during Edwards’s five-year tenure with the club. In his first season as the Kansas City Chiefs field boss, the team improved from 0-4 to 2-2.

Identifying win-a-holics like Edwards is a good start if you plan betting the preseason – even though most say you shouldn’t ... but what the hell do they know anyway?

Here’s a brief rundown of two teams that have a habit of winning during the second-stringers’ season, and another club that has a good chance of exceeding this year.

New York Giants betting lines

Playing in the media hub of North America can be stressful but the press can’t write anything negative about the way Tom Coughlin’s boys play in the preseason. The Giants won and covered all four games last summer, improving their record to 7-1 both straight up (SU) and against the spread over the last two years.

Coughlin has shown he’s not afraid to give his starters more time in the second preseason game than most of his colleagues, no doubt one of the reasons his team has been so dominant.

Dallas Cowboys betting lines

Bettors can count on America’s team early on. The Cowboys are 14-6 both SU and ATS since 2002 in warm-up contests. Former coach Bill Parcells, the coach of the team the last four years, has an intimidating, in-your-face presence – surely a reason Dallas has had so much early success.

The Big Tuna won’t be strolling the sidelines with looks of disgust, but new coach Wade Phillips will be anxious to make a good first impression for owner Jerry Jones.

Dallas plays the Indianapolis Colts and the Denver Broncos before things get serious. They then face the Houston Texans in their third contest (the game starters see most game time) and finish off with the Minnesota Vikings.

Expect a Dallas team able to walk away with another 3-1 preseason record.

Oakland Raiders betting lines

This team scored a league-worst 12 offensive touchdowns last season, so the rookies and veterans each have something to prove. There’s a bounty of first-unit jobs up for grabs and plenty of bodies competing for those slots.

First-time head coach Lane Kiffin will be eager to impress an owner who employs the philosophy, “Just win, baby!”

The 32-year-old Kiffin has to command respect from a locker room full of players older than him. All of these factors should lead to purpose in preseason.

Don’t forget: before playing like a team that belonged in NFL Europe, Oakland went 4-1 (both SU and ATS) in exhibition games.

Stanley Cup betting

New York, NY – October 3, 2007 – The dress rehearsal is over! The NHL preseason has ended and now that fans have had a glimpse of what is to come it is time to hit the book! Stanley Cup odds are live at MySportsbook.com, the world’s largest online sportsbook and casino.

The Ottawa Senators and Detroit Red Wings remain on top of the odds charts after an impressive start in the preseason. Betting lines opened for both teams at 6-1 in June. Since then the Sens have fallen to 7-1 and the Red Wings are now caught in a pack including the defending champion Carolina Hurricanes, the San Jose Sharks and the Anaheim Ducks, all at 10-1.

MySportsbook.com has also posted props on each team’s point total for the regular season. The Senators lead the charge at 108.5 followed by the Ducks at 106.5. Detroit will attempt a repeat for the prize as the Red Wings are deadlocked with the Predators at 104.5 a piece. The temporary loss of highly touted rookie Evgeni Malkin puts a lot of pressure on the stick of assistant captain Sidney Crosby - his lowly Pittsburgh Penguins are listed at 71.5.

Even if bettors are not brave enough to put their money on the underdog, an early bet on the favorites at sportsbook.com tends to produce bigger payouts than a mid-season wager. Placing a $1,000 bet last summer on the Detroit Red Wings or Ottawa Senators would have paid out to $8,000 and $10,000 respectively, opposed to a $2,500 or $3,000 payout at the beginning of the playoffs.
