Fire trade defender Ward to San Jose

08/06/2010 - San Jose, CA (Sportsbook Betting Lines) - The San Jose Earthquakes acquired defender Tim Ward from the Chicago Fire in exchange for a conditional pick in the 2011 draft, the Major league Soccer club's announced on Friday.

"Tim is someone we think can come in and address some of our depth issues and help us right now," Earthquakes General Manager John Doyle said. "He has been a quality player in this league for a number of years and we feel he will fit right in with us."

The six-year MLS veteran has appeared in 55 games, recording six assists, including three over the last year-and-a-half with the Fire.

"We would like to thank Tim for his contributions to the Chicago Fire and wish him the best of luck in his future endeavors," Fire Technical Director Frank Klopas said.
