Denver Nuggets 2010 Draft Preview
Basketball Betting Lines
06/21/2010 -
(Sportsbook Betting Lines) - The Nuggets are coming off another solid regular season and
a seventh straight playoff appearance but George Karl's battle with neck and
throat cancer proved to be too much to overcome as the team bowed out in the
first round of the postseason to division rival Utah.
Free agency and trades will be the route the Nuggets need to take for an
upgrade this offseason since they don't own a pick in the draft.
Carmelo Anthony remains one of the NBA's top players while Chauncey Billups,
34 before next season, is still an upper echelon quarterback. The team needs
to get Anthony some offensive help on the wing, however. J.R. Smith took a
step back last season and Arron Afflalo is more of a defensive specialist.
Denver could use second-year point guard Ty Lawson as trade bait to get back
in the first round.
Players under contract: G Arron Afflalo; F/C Chris Andersen; F Carmelo
Anthony; F Renaldo Balkman; G Chauncey Billups; C Brian Butch; G Coby Karl
G Ty Lawson; C Nene; G J.R. Smith
Free agents: F Malik Allen (unrestricted); G Anthony Carter (unrestricted);
F/G Joey Graham (unrestricted); F Kenyon Martin (ETO); C Johan Petro
(unrestricted)
Draft picks: No picks
